- previous in Shopify, customizations only allowed for an entire shopping cart
- now, line item properties allow customizations for each item in a shopping cart
- free text or file uploads are possible
- previously this was awkward, either a note explaining the desired customizations or calling the merchant after placing the order
- now customers can do it as they place orders and not have to worry about getting what they want across
- possible things you can do with this:
-- t-shirts or mugs with custom images on them (especially in combination with e.g. Merchify)
-- cufflinks with custom monograms (e.g. http://www.frenchcuffed.com/ )
-- if a shop did custom vinyl printing, they could take mp3s and turn them into records
- the sky is the limit!
